Q: Where does my beef come from?
A: We buy our calves from local Indiana farmers and finish them on the rolling hills of our whitewater river valley farm.
Q: How is my beef fed?
A: Our cattle start out eating limited grain and all of the grass they want. Then over time they gradually move toward being able to eat all the grain and all the grass they want. Every morsel of grain and every blade of grass they eat is grown on our farm.
Q: Do your cattle receive hormone treatments?
Q: Do you give your beef antibiotics?
A: We work closely with our veterinarian to help prevent and manage illness. When an animal gets sick we administer antibiotics to help. Before a beef can be butchered it must be antibiotic free for 30 days so the antibiotics have had time to work out of their system.
Q: Is the corn in your feed GMO free?
A: For now, the corn we produce on our farm is GMO. We continue to monitor the research on GMO's to make sure we're doing the best for our land, our animals and the people we feed.
Q: How is my beef processed/packaged?
A: Your beef is picked up from the farm, butchered and then hangs for about 10 days to age before it is cut. It is then inspected, packaged and frozen for transportation to your home. All of this occurs in an inspected, certified facility. So you can feel assured that your meat was carefully prepared.
Q: How do you process your ground beef?
A: We trim the fat closely and then grind the beef and all of the marbling within. We do not add fat or water to the ground beef.
Q: Where is my beef butchered and processed?
A: French's Locker in Batesville Indiana.
Q: When will my order be ready?
A: When you place an order we will contact you to confirm and arrange the pick up or delivery. We keep beef for our smaller orders on hand for shipping. If we run out of a cut or you order a quarter or more, it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to butcher, age and package your beef. We work hard to fill our orders quickly, however when it comes to producing quality tasting beef this is not a process we want to rush.
Q: I live locally, where can I pick up my order?
A: We have pick up locations in Brookville, Batesville, Westport, Metamora and St. Leon IN. Or call us to organize a special delivery.
Q: Do I need coolers to transport my beef?
A: Depends on how long it will be out. If your beef is shipped it will arrive in an insulated container. If you're picking it up, we will work with you to come up with a plan to get your beef home safely.
Q: If I decide to ship, what will my shipping costs be?

Q: How Long Will a Bulk Beef Last?
A: It depends on how often your family likes to eat meat. Here's how long it takes most families to go through a 1/4 beef:
Small Family (1-3 meat eaters) Estimated Time 6-12 months
Medium Family (4-6 meat eaters) Estimated Time 3-6 months
Large Family ( >6 meat eaters) Estimated Time < 3 months
Q: How Much Freezer Space do I need to hold a quarter?
A: 1 cubic foot of freezer space will hold 35-40 pounds of cut and wrapped beef
That means you need about 3 cubic feet per quarter, which is roughly the size of a wheelbarrow.
